The post of Technical Secretary has been abolished but provision has been made for the engagement on a three-year contract of the following additional staff: 3 Town Planning Architects, 4 Architects, 3 Structural Engineers and 2 Quantity Surveyors.

An increase of $100,000 is provided for under Maintenance of Public Buildings and a decrease of $90,000 under Maintenance of non-Government Buildings. Alterations and additions to Government Buildings have been increased by $50,000 and alterations and additions to non-Government Buildings decreased by $100,000. Maintenance of Lighthouses has been reduced by $5,000. A now item Maintenance of Typhoon Masts and Equipment has been inserted at the request of the Director of the Royal Observatory. There is an increase of 8126,000 under Maintenance of Vehicular Ferry Piers but a good deal of this expenditure will be recovered from the Ferry Company.
